Khai Doan Pagoda is located at 117 Phan Boi Chau Dist. Buon Ma Thuot City. It was built in 1951 by Venerable Thich Duc Thieu and representative Mong Diep concubine was the superviser who cared for constructing and renovating. Temple is faced Southwest overlooking the stream and its back against the Buon Ma Thuot City. With the location of “faced to river and leaned on mountain”, having harmonious feng-shui style of Vietnam ancient architecture, this site is really a long term stable location for all future generations.
Pagoda style architecture modeled Hue royal style combined with the Highland’s Traditional long house-on-stilts, expressed solidarity between Kinh (Viet) people and the highlanders. With an area of 320m2, devided into 2 parts: The front part with the architecture of Traditional long house-on-stilts, the back part with modern architecture. Inside, there is a Buddha statue (1,1 meters high), a bronze bell (1,15 meters high and weigh 380kg) was cast in December of Snake Year (1954). Temple was named “Khai Doan Bestowed by Royal decree” Khai Doan's first 2 words of King Khai Dinh and Doan Huy Queen, bearing of recognition of the temple’s merit founders.
