In his opening speech, Mr Sieu described the DPRK-USA summit as significant world-class event, noting that this is a golden opportunity to promote Vietnamese tourism and elevate the image of the country and people to the world.There are about 3,000 reporters from around the world coming to Vietnam to report on the event as well as social, cultural and tourism aspects in Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.
International reporters will have the chance to directly explore destinations and experience distinctive tourism products and services of Hanoi and Vietnam as well.
The VNAT leader underscored the importance of the strong support of international reporters in disseminating information on Vietnam’s destinations, tourism services and products in the world’s leading media, social networking sites and websites.
Several tourism businesses such as Saigontourist and Hanoitourist also affirmed their willingness to provide reporters with the best services and free tours like Hanoi City Tour, Café Hanoi, Bat Trang pottery village, Duong Lam ancient village, Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh, said Vu The Binh, vice chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA), adding that information counter at the International Media Centre will equip them with sufficient information on tourism programs.
Dinh Ngoc Duc, head of the VNAT marketing department said reporters from the US, the Republic of Korea, Japan and China have made up 50 percent out of 3,000 reporters participating in the DPRK-USA summit, noting that these countries are also key Vietnam’s tourism markets with the number of tourists account for some 70% of total international visitors to Vietnam.
To prepare for the event, the tourism sector has worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in providing information on Vietnam tourism (video, e-publications like Vietnam Tour Guide), connecting the website www.vietnam.travel to the registration page for international media run by MOFA at www.dprk.usasummit2019.mofa.gov.vn.
At the International Media Centre, VNAT has co-ordinated with the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to build exhibition spaces for heritages, destinations of regions throughout Vietnam as well as creating spaces to showcase Vietnamese tourism services and products through promotional materials and providing virtual reality experiences at Vietnam’s tourist attractions.
The VNAT has also co-ordinated with VITA to install billboards featuring outstanding tourist attractions, design free tours and provide Vietnamese traditional gifts such as Dong Ho folk paintings, conical hats to international reporters.
