Customers look at tour programs at the 2017 travel mart in HCMC
The event, organized by the HCMC Department of Tourism, is a great opportunity for travel firms, tourism-related businesses and localities to introduce their services to customers in HCMC. There will be some 150 booths at the event.
Promotions by travel firms come under various forms such as tour giveaways, happy hour discounts, summer offers, lucky draws and promo codes.
According to deputy director of the city’s tourism department La Quoc Khanh, the number of discounted local and foreign tours that firms had registered was around 60,000 a couple of days ago and more than 70,000 on April 5. More products and services are still coming.
“It is likely that there will be up to 100,000 discounted tours on offer when the event starts. Sales recorded at last year’s event of the kind were over VND40 billion, but this year sales may be higher,” he told the press briefing to introduce the event.
Nguyen Thi Khanh, vice chairwoman of the HCMC Tourism Association, also revealed at the press briefing that travel and transport businesses are also preparing for the travel stimulus program of this year.
In addition to Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific and Vietjet Air, which have participated in such a program for many years, Vasco has requested cooperation to stimulate air transport from HCMC to Lam Dong Province.
Saigon Railway Transport Company has also reserved a large number of seats for this program and will offer discounts of up to 40%.
According to Khanh, the better the prices are, the more customers there will be. Regarding railway tours alone, discounts and better services helped increase the number of tourists by four times last year.
