The change in policy will see the nation halt entry for tourists arriving from Schengen countries or the UK. In addition the policy also includes all foreign nationals who have visited or passed through these areas 14 days prior to their expected entry into Vietnam.
This decision is poised to take effective as of 12:00 noon on March 15 and will be in place for at least 30 days, with diplomats and officials exempt from the policy.
All foreigners who are experts, business managers, or highly-skilled workers who enter the country will be subject to medical checks and quarantine procedures in accordance with guidelines set out by the Ministry of Health.
The latest policy for arrivals to Vietnam has been passed on to all diplomatic missions, consular offices, and representative offices of international organisations located in the country.
The Vietnamese government will also be closely monitoring the epidemic whilst collaborating alongside other countries, international organisations, and partners in a bid to promptly adjust prevention and control measures to combat the spread of the COVID-19.
