Sharing 70 km border with Cambodia along the National Highway 14C is a favourable condition for Dak Lak to develop the economy in the frontier and reinforce the national security.
– Lam Dong to the South
– Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa to the East
– Cambodia and Dak Nong to the West.
Buon Ma Thuot City is the political, cultural, and socio-economic centre of both the province and the Central Highlands. The city centre is the intersection of the three National Highways – 14 (running from north to south across the province), 26 and 27 connecting Buon Ma Thuot with such cities as Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), Da Lat (Lam Dong) and Pleiku (Gia Lai). Once the reconstruction of Ho Chi Minh Trail has been completed and the airline routes have been upgraded, Dak Lak will become a significant place for economic exchange with such national economic centres as Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. This is supposed to give great impetus to the economic development of the province as well as the Central Highlands.
