The provincial People’s Committee (PPC) held a meeting to make comments on the organization of the 7th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2019 on August 7th, under the chair of Mr. Pham Ngoc Nghi – Chairman of the PPC and the participation of Vice Chairmen of the PPC, leaders of relevant departments, sectors and district-level People’s Committees of Lak, Buon Don.

At the meeting

Participants at the meeting had a detail discussion about the Festival’s contents, especially new activities proposed by departments, sectors. Accordingly, the 7th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2019 under the theme of “Convergence of the Plateau”, with 14 main activities will take place from March 4 – 17th, 2019. In terms of funding for the festival, the province is planning to call for 100% of socialization.

As proposed in the draft scheme, the 7th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2019 consists of the following activities: Festival Logo Design contest; The first Vietnam’s specialty coffee quality competition; Conference on development of Vietnam’s specialty coffee; Co-ordination in organizing the Export Program with Jeollabuk province, Korea; Restoration of traditional rites and festivals of local ethnic minorities; Exhibition of world coffee history; A trip to Buon Don Elephant Festival; Coffee Book Road; Introduction of tours; Photo Exhibition of “44 years of Buon Ma Thuot victory”; DakLak Province Investment Promotion Conference 2019; Festival Night “Meeting the Heritage Sites on the Highlands.

Representatives of departments and sectors made comments on shortening the organizing time to facilitate the connection program; rearranging activities under the form of the series of events; focusing on renewing activities to attract visitors Additionally, delegates said that Dak Lak Brand Identity should be required. Regarding socialization, the PPC should issue regulations on sponsoring the festival to create conditions for businesses to take the initiative in their fund.

The project should add more domestic and foreign coffee businesses to participate in the implementation of related programs. The Festival aims to promote coffee, investment, pay attention to the added value of the coffee sector.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman of the PPC Pham Ngoc Nghi highly spoke of the departments and sectors taking the initiative in building up the project and requested the PPC’s Office to finalize the project as stated, and make arrangement under the form of series of events in order to facilitate visitors.

To implement the Festival’s activities effectively, the Chairman asked the departments and sectors to call for 100% of socialization, agreed on the theme of the Festival “The Quintessence of Jungle”. The Festival is planning to take place within one week. The specific date will be agreed when the official plan is issued. Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continues to add some venues including Ca Da Plantation, Lac Giao, Provincial Museum, Khai Doan Pagoda make a destination of the journey. The Department of Industry and Trade will be responsible for setting up a regulation on the socialization of the Festival. Decision on establishing five sub-committees including propaganda, content, foreign affairs, security and social order, finance and mobilization will be soon promulgated. The Departments and sectors report criteria for selecting enterprises to sponsor the Festival before August 15.
