The forum was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Chairman of the VNAT Nguyen Trung Khanh; Chairman of the Vietnam Society of Travel Agents (VISTA) Vu The Binh.
The event also had the participation of 400 delegates from tourism businesses as well as media agencies
Speaking at the forum, Mr. Vu The Binh said with the outstanding performance between 2016 and 2019, Vietnam tourism has confirmed its role in the national economy, gradually becoming a key economic sector of the country. It has also been considered as a phenomenon of the global tourism with rapid growth and dozens of prestigious international awards. However, the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has caused heavy damage to the tourism industry.
Implementing the direction of the Government regarding “dual goal”, Vietnam tourism businesses, including travel enterprises, have actively carried out many solutions to restore the operations.
E-commerce and sharing economy has become a crucial factor in many sectors. Online services have become the most widely used method. Modern technologies such as cloud computing, internet of things, virtual reality, block chain, artificial intelligence have fundamentally changed the operation of many industries. As a sensitive sector, tourism has quickly approached digital transformation, applied modern technology in business in order to enrich the experiences for tourists.
Addressing at the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung suggested tourism enterprises to restructure their operations, defining target markets. He also suggested the businesses to pay more attention to training human resources.
At the forum, delegates attended two discussion sessions with topics: ‘Vietnam Travel – Solution for 2021’ and ‘Vietnam Travel toward the future’.
In the framework of the forum, relevant sides signed cooperation agreements such as: between Vietnam Tourism Association and the People’s Committee of Cat Hai District; between MICE Club and Flamingo Holding Group; and between tourism associations of HCM City, Da Nang and Hai Phong.
