    Local wonder receives World Heritage Site recognition twice

    Ha Long Bay continues to represent a highly popular travel destination in the northern province of Quang Ninh and has therefore been recognised twice as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    World Heritage Sites are designated by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), for locations having cultural, historical, scientific, or other forms of significance. Ha Long Bay has twice been recognised by UNESCO for being one of the leading natural Vietnamese wonders.     Ha Long Bay covers an enormous area in northern Vietnam of approximately 1,553 square kilometres and contains an incredible 1,969 islets in total.

    The name Ha Long means “descending dragon” and the site is regarded as a gift of nature as well as being a key heritage site for humanity.
